The Hammers pasted the Desperados on Sunday night behind a monstrous outing by Sam Woods, who went the distance for his team.  The only blemish against Woods in this contest came in the fifth when he issued a one-out walk to Matt Reiter and a second to Pete Thorne.  One out later, Jeremy Barrett singled in Reiter for the Desperados' lone tally.  Woods's offense got things going in the third.  Vic Vega reached on a fielder's choice and eventually scored on Monte Edwards's two-out single.  Another Hammer run came in the second when Todd Laniak homered leading off the frame.  The big inning for the Hammers came in the fifth, when five runners scored.  The first was Monte Edwards, who singled and scored on Nick Bruner's double.  Bruner scored on Steven Escalante's single and Todd Laniak moved him to second with a single of his own.  Jake Harris walked one-out later to load the bases.  Vic Vega walked to bring in Escalante and Sam Woods helped his cause by doubling in Laniak and Harris.  The last two Hammer runs came in the ninth, Bruner led off with a single and Laniak doubled one-out later to score him, and Laniak came home as well on Jerel Bawayan's single to cap the scoring.
Monte Edwards helped pace the Hammers, going 2-5, with a run and an RBI.  Nick Bruner went 2-5, with two runs, an RBI and a double.  Todd Laniak was 4-5, with a homer, three runs, a double and a pair of RBI's.  Jacob Woods was 2-5 with a double.

The Blazers put a brief scare into the Desperados, holding a 3-1 lead after six innings.  Starter Bryan Williams was dealing, but probably hung on a little too long as the Desperados got to him late.  The Blazers took a 1-0 lead in the second when Phil Inn walked and scored on a two-out error.  The Desperados answered back in the fourth with Jonathan Kelly's first homer of the season, this a solo shot leading off the inning.  The Blazers scored their last two runs in the sixth off of reliever Matt Reiter for a 3-1 lead.  Catcher Chris Foster led off the inning with a single and after a strikeout, Michael Mauldin walked and Zach Evanson singled, but Foster was gunned down at the plate for the second out.  But, Phil Inn stepped up and delivered a double scoring Mauldin and Evanson.  The Desperados took control of the game in the top of the seventh, however, and put four runs across.  Dustin Thacker led off with a single before being erased on Matt Reiter's fielder's choice.  Jordan Robinson then singled Reiter to second and Ryan Blackwell walked to load the sacks.  After a strikeout, Roman Kelly smashed a bases-clearing double before scoring himself on a Zach Kles single.  In the eight, Chris Ray singled with one down and scored on Matt Reiter's single.  Reiter came home on a single by Pete Thorne for the 7-3 lead.  In the ninth, Chris Ray's RBI single brought in Zach Kles with and insurance run as the Desperados won 8-3
For the Desperados, Jonathan Kelly went 1-3 with a homer and two walks.  Chris Ray went 2-5 with a run and an RBI.  Dustin Thacker went 2-5, and Matt Reiter went 2-4 with two runs and an RBI to go with a stolen base.

The Patriots and their starter Myles Watson played a nearly flawless game Thursday Night against the Dbax, winning 7-2 in a game they had to win to keep pace in the tough National League.  The Pats got behind Watson early with two in the first.  Kevin Smith and Myles Watson walked to lead off the game and both stole themselves into scoring position.  Smith scored on Mikey Mixon's sac fly, and Josh Bowman's single plated Watson.  Kevin Smith also led off the third inning, this time with a single and Mikey Mixon singled him home one-out later.  In the fourth, Jeff Holland hit a one-out double and Tony Smith reached first on a dropped strike three, moving Holland to third.  Scott Mixon then singled in Holland and moved Tony Smith to third.  Kevin Smith then walked to load the bases.  Myles Watson then singled in Tony Smith and Mikey Mixon came through again, this time with a two-run single as Scott Mixon and Kevin Smith crossed for the 7-0 lead.  With the game in hand, the Dbax managed to push a couple of runs across against Watson late.  In the seventh, Mitch Davies led off with a double and came home two-outs later on Michael Ferros's single.  Toby McClure led off the ninth with a single for the Dbax and scored on T. Green's double.  Watson then blew away the next two batters with strikeouts and after a walk to Austin Sexton, he retired the final batter for the complete game victory.
The Patriots were led at the dish by Kevin Smith 1-1,3R,3BB,3SB and Mikey Mixon 2-3,4RBI  Josh Bowman 2-4,RBI  and Scott Mixon 2-4,R,RBI
For the Dbax, Mitch Davies was 1-3 with a double, a run and a walk.

The Hammers' offense got behind starter Larry McGhee to the tune of 5-0 after 6 1/2 innings of play, but had to hold on to edge the pesky Polecats 6-4.  McGhee left the game after seven innings, having allowed just one unearned run while giving up seven hits and three walks, but striking out seven along the way.  The Hammers got the big lead starting with a two-spot in the third off tough-luck loser Matt Weber.  Weber also pitched seven solid innings before giving way to the bullpen, but it was his defense that caused all the trouble.  After giving up a lead-off single to Sam Woods to start the third, Damonte Edwards reached on an error and Jacob Woods walked to load the bases.  Nick Bruner then hit a sac fly that scored Sam Woods and Edwards came home on an error later in the inning for the 2-0 edge.  Bruner scored himself later in the sixth inning after reaching on yet another Polecat error and came around to score on a single by Todd Laniak.  The Hammers tacked on two more error-induced runs in the seventh, this time Sam Woods and Damonte Edwards both scored on a single by Nick Bruner for the 5-0 lead.  The Polecats got their only run off of McGhee in the seventh when, keeping with the form of the evening, an error allowed Jason Powell, who had singled to score with two outs.  In the eighth, with Sam Woods now on the hill for the Hammers, the Polecats made things interesting.  Chris Salmons led off with a single and Caleb Duvall followed with a base on balls and Jason Powell walked to load the bases with nobody out.  Salmons scored on Jeffery Crosby's RBI groundout that erased Powell at second and moved Duvall to third.  The next batter popped out to second, but Jeff Griffeth managed a single that scored Duvall and Danny Tillery's single plated Crosby, bringing the Cats to within a run, at 5-4.  The Hammers added an insurance run in the ninth.  Damonte Edwards walked, stole second and scored by way of passed balls and a wild pitch.  Woods struck out the side in the bottom of the ninth to end the comeback bid.
Big hitters for the Hammers: Sam Woods 2-5,2R  Nick Bruner 2-4,R,3RBI,2B  Steven Escalante 2-4  Todd Laniak 2-4,2B,RBI

The Patriots and Blazers played and exciting extra inning game, with the Patriots prevailing after coughing up a big lead in the bottom of the ninth.  The Patriots got things going in the fifth when Scott Mixon led off with a single, only to be erased at second on Joel Courson's fielder's choice.  But Mikey Mixon thens singled and Myles Watson walked to load the bases.  Josh Bowman then hit a grounder to second that was misplayed and Courson and Mikey Mixon scored the game's first two runs.  Watson scored via wild pitch and the score was 3-0.  In the eighth inning, the Patriots added on an insurance run when Cliff Neal walked and eventually scampered home on a wild pitch.  With a four-run lead and pitcher Myles Watson in control since he entered in the fifth, things looked good for coach Scott Mixon and his Patriots.  But, Watson lost his control and walked Bryan Sigman and Jake Pruitt and then plunked Jeff Costardo to load the bases with none down.  Watson then blew away the next batter, but Michael Mauldin delivered a base knock and Sigman scored, making it 4-1.  Ryker Fleming then doubled home Pruitt and Costardo and Mauldin moved to third with the tying run and just one out.  Zach Evanson then hit a chopper to third and Mauldin came home with the tying run.  Watson was able to get out of the inning without further trouble, setting up the big tenth inning for the Patriots.  In the tenth, Greg Mixon continued his torrid hitting with a double and Jeff Holland walked to put two runners on with one out.  A huge error on Tony Smith's grounder then loaded the bases.  Scott Mixon the hit a sac fly to center and the tie was broken as Greg Mixon raced home.  Stoney Morrison then single in Holland and Joel Courson walked to load them back up.  Mikey Mixon then walked and this forced in Tony Smith.  Myles Watson then doubled in Morrison and Courson and the Patriots were now up 9-5.  Watson pitched an uneventful bottom of the tenth and the game was over.
The Patriots were led by Myles Watson, who walked five times and doubled, with two RBIs and a run.  Greg Mixon went 2-4 with a double, a run and a walk.
The Blazers got a big night from Ryker Fleming who went 1-2 with a double, two ribbies a walk and an HBP.

The Hammers became the Angels' third victim of the early season as the Halos cruised to another easy victory.  The Angels were once again dominant both offensively and on the mound all game long.  On the mound, Ben Morris and Dustin Taylor were in control all night, and their offense produced early, and often.  Speedster Russ Williams walked leading off the game and was promptly sacrificed to second by Sam Barth.  Alex Holmes walked one out later and Matt Kennison blasted a double to score Williams.  Ian Drake then singled in Holmes and it was 2-0 before the Hammers even came to bat.  Trey McCay's solo shot in the third inning made it 3-0 and the game stayed that way until the seventh.  Jared York led off with a double and J.J. McCay followed with a walk.  Two outs later, an error allowed both runners to score as Trey McCay reached base safely.  A single by Alex Holmes and an error on the relay allowed Trey McCay to score and the lead was now 6-0.  One inning later, Ian Drake led off with a single and stole second, scoring on a single by Ben Morris.  Jared York then hit a triple and Morris came home with the game's final run.  The big hitters for the Angels were Trey McCay with a home run, and Matt Kennison, who went 2-5 with a double and an RBI.  Also, Ian Drake collected a pair of singles in four trips, scoring once and knocking in a run, and Jared York had a double and a triple in four at-bats, with a run and a ribbie.  Zach DePaolo lead the Hammers on this night, with a 2-4 effort.

The Angels brought the Patriots back down to earth with a dominating effort from their offense and starter Tom Dimitroff.  Dimitroff scattered four hits while fanning eleven Patriots in the complete game effort.  His offense got behind him with a four-run second inning.  Alex Holmes walked ahead of a single by Matt Kennison to lead things off, and one out later, Rhett Hall singled in Holmes and Dustin Taylor followed suit with a single that plated Kennison.  Hall Scored on J.J. McCay's single and Taylor eventually scored on Sam Barth's sac fly for the 4-0 advantage.  The Angels pushed in four more runs in the fifth, mostly thanks to some poor defense by the Patriots.  Trey McCay, Alex Holmes and Rhett Hall had singles and scored in the inning and Matt Kennison also found his way home after reaching via error as the home team stretched it's lead to 8-0.  The final three tallies scored in the sixth, when Kelson Looney led off with a walk and Russ Williams and Sam Barth both doubled with Williams and Looney scoring on Barth's knock.  Ian Drake later singled in Barth to end the carnage.
The Angels were led by Rhett Hall, who went 2-3, with 3RBIs, a stolen base and a run scored.  Russ Williams went 2-4 with a double, and a run.  Dustin Taylor went 2-2 with a walk, a run and an RBI.
Greg Mixon led the Patriots, going 2-3.

The Royals shocked the Polecats with a huge fifth inning and left the Polecats shaking their heads after a 13-5 thrashing.  The Royals jumped out to an early lead with a three-run first inning.  Jonathan House walked and scored on Nick Pappas's double, and Josh Babb singled and scored on Jonathan Dove's homerun.  But, the Polecats answered with three of their own in the top half of the next inning.  Danny Tillery and Cornelius Garrett singled and Feeney Armistead walked to load the bases before a series of defensive miscues allowed all three runners to score and tie the game at three.  The Polecats even held a brief one-run lead after a third-inning tally made it 4-3.  A balk plated Rob Brown who had singled, stolen second and advanced to third via wild pitch.  The Royals took back the lead in the fourth after one-out singles by Jonathan Fowler and Will Ryder and Clint Bruner's two-out single, which scored Fowler and Ryder.  The Polecats tied the game a half inning later when Rob Brown singled, stole second and scored on Cornelius Garrett's two-out single.  The Royals ended the drama with the huge sixth inning which completed deflated their opponents.  Nick Rudolph walked and Matt Ayers was hit by a pitch ahead of Jonathan House's single to load the sacks.  An error on Nick Pappas's grounder to second kept the bases loaded with no outs as Rudolph scored.  After a strikeout, Jonathan Dove walked to force in Ayers from third and Jonathan Fowler singled in House and Pappas, and the rout was on, with Dove and Fowler scoring before the inning's end.  The Royals tacked on a final run in the eighth and cruised to a lopsided victory.

This game was a tale of two halves and the will of Brandon Cooper.  The Blazers looked like the superior team in the game's early going, with the Blazers getting out to a lead as big as 5-1.  But, Brandon Cooper decided to put the Hammers on his shoulders and carry them to a mercy rule victory.  The Blazers got things going in the first with singles by Jeff Costardo, Chris Foster, Michael Mauldin and Riker Fleming with all but Fleming reaching home.  The Hammers got one back in the bottom of the first, but gave up two more in the third for the 5-1 deficit.  In that inning, Costardo led off with a single and Zach Evanson followed with a bunt single before Chris Foster's walk loaded the bases.  Costardo scored from third on an errant pick off throw from the catcher and Evanson came home on Mauldin's single. Then Coach Todd Laniak  removed his starter and inserted Brandon Cooper.  Cooper took the hill and dominated the Blazers for the remainder of the contest, tallying 14 strikeouts in five innings of relief work.   The Hammers struck for another error-induced run in the fourth and made things even closer with a two-run sixth.  Brandon Cooper singled and Sam Woods doubled with one down, and Cooper scored on an error on the play as Woods moved to third and then scored on a ground out by Todd Laniak.  With the score now 5-4, the Hammers went to work in the seventh with an 11-run outburst off two relievers.  Starter Chris Foster had been stellar in his six inning so work, but saw his effort go to waste in a hurry.  The inning was highlighted by Brandon Coopers 7 RBI's, with a grand slam and a bases-clearing double which ultimately induced the mercy rule and ended the game.
Cooper's huge inning capped a 4-5 night, with 7RBI's,2R, a homer and a double.  Matt Parr pitched in a 2-5 night, with two runs.  Sam Woods was 1-2, with a double, two runs, a walk and an HBP, reaching base in every plate appearance.  The Blazers were led by Jeff Costardo, who went 3-4, with a couple of runs scored and a pair of stolen bases.  Zach Evanson went 3-4, with a run and two stolen bases.  Michael Mauldin went 2-3, with a run, an RBI, a steal and an HBP.

The Desperados were just too much for the overmatched Royals team, at least for game one.  The Desperados fell behind 1-0 in the second inning when Jonathan Fowler led off with a walk and scored on Matt Ayers's single, but erased the deficit with a five-run outburst in the top of the third.  After Matt Reiter singled and Ryan Blackwell drew a walk, Jeriquces Brown hit a three run bomb before there was even one out.  Two more runs scored in the inning when Chris Ray singled home Burton Parker and Jason Stone's double plated Roman Kelly for the 5-1 lead.  The lead grew to 6-1 when Jeremy Barrett reached base on an error and eventually scored on Jonathan Kelly's Sac Fly in the fifth inning.  The Desperados put the game away in the sixth with another five-run frame.  This one highlighted by Jeriquces Brown's second hit of the night, this one bringing in Reiter and Neal Sheppard.  Ryan Blackwell, Dustin Thacker and Brown also scored in the inning, making it 11-1.  The game ended 13-4.

The expansion Diamondbacks team met up with a veteran Polecat team and recieved a rude introduction to the AAMBL.  The Polecats capitalized on six errors in the game and put things away with a five-run fourth inning.  Diamondback pitchers issued 16 walks in the contest and Polecats pushed 7 of those across the plate.
The Polecats were led at the dish by Feeney Armistead's 2-4, with a walk.  The Dbax were led by Mitch Davies, who went 3-3, with a double, a triple, two runs and walk to go with a pair of stolen bases.

The 2011 Season got under way with a thrilling game between the reigning co-Champion Hammers and the Patriots on Sunday Night at Lay Field.  The Patriots jumped out to an early four run lead in the first when Joel Courson, Tony Smith, Mikey Mixon and Josh Bowman all reached base and scored.  Cliff Neal and Kevin Smith had RBI's in the inning.  The Patriots extended their lead to 6-0 two innings later when Josh Bowman and Kevin Smith scored on Stoney Morrison's two-out single.  The Hammers got one back in the fourth when C.J. Jagnandon singled in Head Coach Todd Laniak.  The Patriots answered that run with one of their own in the fourth.  Jeff Holland led off the frame with a single and eventually scored on Josh Bowman's two-out single, making it 7-1.  The lead grew to 9-1 in the sixth Jeff Holland and Myles Watson singled and scored in the inning.  The Hammers made things interesting with ten runs in the 7th and 8th innings to bring the score to even after eight innings of play.  The score remained tied into the 11th inning when the Hammers took their first, albeit short lead, with a lone run.  Brandon Cooper led off the inning with a clean single and eventually scored when C.J. Jagnandon drew a bases loaded, two-out walk for the 12-11 lead.  In the bottom of the 11th, the Patriots got a one-out walk from Bowman, followed by a single off the bat of Cliff Neal.  One out later, Patriots coach Scott Mixon stepped up with the game on the line and promptly delivered what seemed like an easy pop out to right, but the rightfielder misjudged the ball on the season's first night and it somehow dropped in for a game winning error as Bowman and Neal alertly scampered home for the walk off victory.
For the Patriots, Joel Courson reached base six times on two hits and three walks.  Myles Watson was 2-5 with a walk, two RBI's and a run scored.  Cliff Neal was 3-6 with two runs and an RBI.  Jeff Holland was 3-4 with two runs and a walk.
The Hammers were led by Damonte Edwards's 2-5 with two walks, two runs and two RBI's.  Brandon Cooper was 3-6 with a pair of runs and a pair of RBI's.  Todd Laniak was 2-3 with three bases on balls and a run.  C.J. Jagnandon was 3-4, with a run and a pair of walks.
